Is it Resident Evil 8 or Resident Evil Village?
Why it isn’t Resident Evil 8: Village is anyone’s guess.
It’s basically both for some reason. Capcom is fully committe to the Resident Evil Village name but also keep reminding people that it’s the eighth installment in the main series. In a developer message producer Tsuyoshi Kanda said that “it’s still the eighth in the series, and we’re treating it as such. You can even see the roman numeral 8 in the game logo, so it’s Resident Evil 8 – just not in name.”
Resident Evil Village story.
The main Resident Evil Village plot focuses on Ethan traveling to the Eastern European village in the title to rescue his daughter, Rose. She seems to have kidnapped by Chris Redfield who also killed Mia, Ethan’s wife. It’s not clear what’s going on there:either Chris is evil now, or there’s something else going on. does he control or force in some way?
When Ethan reaches the Village he discovers it besieged by werewolves, called Lycans, and most of the villagers have been killed. The rest gets a bit fuzzy but we know he learns Rose is supposed to be inside Lady Dimitrescu’s castle and tries to get in. However, he’s captured by a character called Heisenberg and taken to meet what appears to be the ruling villains of the area: Mother Miranda, Dimitrescu, Moreau, Beneviento and Heisenberg. He’s then released and hunted by Heisenberg who he escapes, and then finally gets insides Dimitrescu’s castle to confront her and her three supernatural daughters. What we know from maps and other details is that each of the other main villains appear to have their own locations you’ll have to infiltrate to take them on, with Dimitrescu, Moreau, Beneviento and Heisenberg looking like the stepping stones needed to reach Mother Miranda who runs the show.
